3-Hours of Joy
After taking on the role of Executive Director for YFC, based out of Madras, Or, Mario and Jade kept brainstorming on what they could do as an event to tie all of the work being sowed into this community together. Madras being a place of incredible diversity, the big question was what could we bring to the youth that would inspire and help them see it’s possible to accomplish more than they believe. We knew this needed to be a run, but wanted the effort and the commitment to be completely visible.
In the end it made sent to go for the 50k Treadmill World Record at the high school gym. Mario had been helping out as an assistant coach, and both the staff and principal were not only excited about the event, but they were quick to offer help. Here is the video on the event:
A lot could have gone wrong like the transportation of the treadmill, a power circuit going off, or the simple matter of there being a snow day in the middle of winter that would cancel school. But the event was completely blessed and it really built so much momentum that we did not even realize until later.
